Assevero Continues to Partner with MCPA

Assevero was honored to once again sponsor the Maryland Crime Prevention Association (MCPA) annual conference from October 14, 2019 to October 17, 2019 in Ocean City, MD.

This years conference featured topical presentations and discussion regarding Domestic Violence, Hate Crimes – Trends and Updates, Gang Trends and Updates, Terrorism and Active Shooter, Trends and Updates, Crisis Intervention and Coping, and 21st Century Policing/Body Worn Cameras.

A part from the excellent training a good-time was had by all! This year they even had a bonfire on the beach! What a great conference!

Is A Cyber Career Right For Me?

Assevero is pleased to announce that we are scheduled to present another “Is A Cyber Career Right For Me?” seminar on October 18, 2018, from 9:00 am-12:30 pm. This workshop will benefit job seekers starting a career as well as those transitioning to a new career. This workshop is designed to guide the participants through a candid assessment of their aptitudes, interests, and preparation for a cyber career. Participants will be encouraged to realistically assess their goals in terms of their baseline skills and experience, education, personal situation, flexibility, and their strengths, and weaknesses.

Topics that will be covered:

A survey of relevant technology trends
Cyber actors and motivations
Common cyber tools and threats
Common vulnerabilities
Basic security safeguards
Cyber knowledge, and how it is acquired
The value of experience
Technical skills and specialization
Necessary soft skills and other common requirements such as security clearances and professional certifications

The Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation has selected Assevero to provide a series of workshops to clients contemplating a career in Cyber.

Assevero Mentioned in White House Press Release!

In January, President Obama issued a three-part call to action – to employers, to communities across the country, and to federal agencies – to help Americans who are ready to work find jobs, and to help more of the long-term unemployed get back to work. That included unveiling a set of “best practices” being taken by leading employers – including over 80 of the nation’s largest companies – around recruiting and hiring the long-term unemployed, to remove some of the barriers that make it harder for them to navigate the hiring process.

Today, building on the President’s call to action, the White House is providing an update on progress since January and additional steps—taken in conjunction with businesses, non-profit leaders, governors and mayors and federal agencies—to help ensure that Americans still looking for work have a fair shot, and American businesses benefit as a result. Summer 2015 ASCEND Classes Begin

The Summer 2015 cohort of the Assevero Security Consulting, LLC Education Networking, and Development (ASCEND) Program has begun.

The ASCEND program is designed to deliver basic cybersecurity, career planning, mentoring, and workforce preparation services. The program will assist participants to enhance their cybersecurity knowledge, skills, and credentials, and to help them find fulfilling employment in the cybersecurity industry. Participants will enjoy a respectful and collegial environment designed to enhance both basic and specialized cybersecurity knowledge and employability. In addition to the tailored development plans, participants have access to:

Certification exam preparation and coaching,
Career counseling and mentoring support,
Access to current and relevant training resources,
Textbooks, training guides, and other materials
Guest lectures presented by leaders in government, academia and industry,
Limited job placement assistance, and
Professional networking and collaboration opportunities.

Most resources and materials are delivered virtually, through the ASCEND SharePoint site. The majority of the coursework is self-paced, allowing for participants with disparate levels of experience and abilities to complete the program at their convenience. The 38 participants will each complete thirty-two discrete learning pathways based on their interests, experience, and career choices.
